Overview

Technical and solutions mid-level program manager responsible for leading agile cross-functional team of Systems and SW Engineers, Test Engineers, Operations, etc. from initial concept to deployment.
Meets complex program goals for product performance, quality goals, regulatory compliance requirements, cost, schedule and development budget. Also responsible for working with Product Management,
Marketing, and Experience Designers to define the product, solidify the business case, and author the product and experience specifications. Given our multitude of design and development partners,
participates with negotiations involving Business Development and Legal.

Responsibilities

    • Responsibilities

    Leadership of a project team of the cross functional team : engineering, product management, quality and operations to deliver release brand new or refreshed enterprise grade devices like : Handhelds/tablets/VCs. You will interface with Senior leaders across many business units in the Zebra organization and JDM’s who support our products. You will have the opportunity to make and influence decisions relative to priorities of your team to meet their goals and objectives.

    The Technical Program Manager is responsible for driving the team to make right technical decisions and to meet the financial objectives for project : Project and Product cost as well as schedule.

     

    Leadership

      • Skilled at building and leading teams to define technical and business solutions, by selecting and motivating staff and providing  direction to internal team members and external partner teams.
      • Ability to work with globally distributed teams, with differing cultures and first languages.
      • Good organizer and delegator who is able to empower and motivate the team in challenging circumstances and keep them accountable for project deliverables.
      • Innovative and motivated person, able to lead team to identify and resolve risks and issues. Takes ownership of actions and initiatives, but also escalates quickly and effectively when senior management support is required.
      • Good communication skills at all levels of the organization, who is able to work with a wide range of experience levels in development teams and can successfully and effectively communicate with senior management.
      • Drives teams to follow Zebra  business practices in an organized and effective manner.
      • Is results oriented and meets commitments.
      • Challenge the assumptions of the engineering team to design a more cost effective product or faster time to market solution.  

     

    Project Management

      • Demonstrates knowledge and experience with project management process in all aspect of the project including schedule management, business management, scope management, people management, communications, and quality management.
      • Has excellent project management tool knowledge and is capable to lead teams in building and managing requirements, work breakdown structures, schedules, risk analyses, issues management plans, action plans, project budgets, product cost plans, resource plans etc.
      • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in applying these processes and tools to all phase of a project including project initiation, project planning, project execution, project monitoring & control, and project closure.
      • Is capable of leveraging project management processes and tools to define and execute projects, while achieving project schedule, cost reduction, and scope goals.
      • Works effectively with project management peers to help enhance the Zebra project management processes. Looks for continuous improvement in project management process excellence.
      • Has good understanding of the technical problems and adds value to technical discussions and can evaluate/understand of technical risks  
      • Bring enough technical depth and understanding and can describe technical risks, design issues, root causes or resolutions – can communicate technical details of the work being managed.

    Business Acumen:

      • Has good understanding of business principles, objectives, and measures to ensure project success.
      • Works to provide optimum business benefits to Zebra to maximize return on investment.
      • Able to develop Statements of Work and negotiate these with suppliers and partners.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • 8-12 years experience including minimum 2 years as team lead/supervisor
  • Intermediate to advanced communication and facilitation skills. Formal training preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced presentation skills. Demonstrated comfort in presenting to mid to senior level cross functional audiences
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of advanced concepts with program management approaches, tools and methodologies. PMP certification preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in PC based documentation tools including MS Office and MS Project
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in delegation and follow up
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge/experience of technical business unit assigned to (Hardware, Software, Services, etc.)
