This position will be based in Singapore and reports to APAC Tax Director.  This individual is an income tax specialist and has good working knowledge of APAC tax requirements.  Overall, working closely with Finance teams and US Corporate Tax, this role will be responsible for managing the tax functions of income tax and other taxes (excluding indirect taxes) for the assigned countries in APAC.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

 

Tax Compliance and Tax Accounting

  • Manage tax compliance process and manage external/internal tax return preparer in the region.
  • Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the tax filings in the region, including reviewing the tax returns and ensuring the timely filing of tax returns.
  • Work with accounting team to ensure all tax payments/refunds are paid/received in a timely manner.
  • Review and enhance the tax compliance processes and documentation.
  • Identify tax risks and opportunities. Bring innovations and improvements to tax compliance and control process to achieve higher effectiveness and minimize tax exposure. Streamline compliance process by improving data quality and process automation.
  • Manage the US GAAP income tax accounting process to ensure the accuracy and timely submission.

 

Tax advisory and projects

  • Provide ad hoc tax advisory to internal stakeholders and support tax planning and business projects.
  • Lead the tax controversy projects in the region.
  • Manage legal entity rationalization and restructuring.
  • Manage Transfer Pricing compliance and project in the region.
  • Work closely with US Corp Tax team to align Zebra group’s tax strategies and processes and implement them in the region.
  • Monitor the developments of tax policies in the region. Analyze current and proposed tax policy changes, evaluate impacts, develop and execute plans accordingly.

Qualifications

  • A University degree in Finance, Tax, Law or related field. Recognized professional tax qualification is a plus.
  • At least 7 years of tax experience, including at least 4 years with accounting firm.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet and e-mail.
  • Hard working, quick learner with a positive ''can do'' attitude and solid professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management.
  • Strong analytical skills and project management skills with the ability to understand processes and systems.
  • Able to manage workloads independently to strict deadlines and flexible with changes in requirements. Ability to deal with ambiguity and manage changing priorities.
  • Strong team player. Enjoy and thrive working in a cross-functional team.
