We have a new opportunity for a Software Engineer, II - Cognos to join our team. This will mean supporting some of the biggest brands from Retail, Banking, and the Hotel industry. Our solutions help these industries save money, offer better customer care, and improve efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develops, and tests on a variety of business intelligence software assignments that constitute a portion of a larger project for data, reporting or analytics products.
  • Implements the design of database schemas and data pipelines to extract, transform, manipulate and load data in appropriate data stores to allow reporting & analysis of data while ensuring data integrity and quality
  • Develops moderately complex reports for one or more enterprise software application products.
  • Develops data models for a portion of one or more enterprise software application products.
  • Participates and provides some inputs to code review of projects.
  • Runs software tests designed by more experienced engineers.
  • Reviews test results and perform root cause analyses to identify problems.
  • Provides recommendations and implements solutions to complex issues. Ensures compliances with quality process and standards.
  • Develops and tests documentation which describes the specific software functionality
  • Makes changes to or upgrades existing software. Enhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions
  • Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems.
  • Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to resolve appropriate action.
  • Receives general instructions on routine work, new projects or assignments.
  • Builds productive working relationships internally and externally.
  • Interacts routinely with team members in a geographically diverse global development team

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or master’s degree, preferably in an IT-related field, or the equivalent of education from BITS / IITs / RECs.
  • 2 - 4years of proven experience.
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with Cognos BI Suite and Framework Manager in a data warehouse environment, to include at least two years of extensive Cognos BI report development experience.
  • Experience of Cognos Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio & Transformer/Dynamic cubes.
  • Experience in the creation of complex data models using framework manager, complex reports and dashboard style solutions using Cognos 10 & 11 solutions.
  • Advanced SQL writing and programming skills, with sound understanding and foundation of both relational and dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Understanding on SDK and use of Javascript / HTML in reports.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and SQL performance tuning is a plus
  • Knowledge on installation/ configuration and Administration would be advantage.
  • Experience integrating Cognos with other web portals would be beneficial.
