The MBTC Specialist, Senior (Individual Contributor role) supports the New Product Development teams as cost owners and cost reduction strategists. This role is expected to operate independently to achieve best cost at launch goals for the business.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes Excel or other spreadsheet tools to accurately track and report on Costed Bill of Materials
    (CBOM) for multiple Zebra Products. Regularly update and share standardized Product cost reporting
    slides and data. Be ready to report on status at any point in time.
  • Collaborate with Market Based Target Costing team and Procurement team to identify Cost Reduction
    opportunities and maintain opportunities within BOM cost projection spreadsheet. Inform Procurement
    team of relevant challenges to address during negotiations.
  • Establish cost reduction opportunity implementation plans and execute by tracking: timelines, owners,
    and deliverables
  • Create negotiation strategies using established negotiation skills and tools (component Benchmarking,
    cost models, etc)
  • Lead negotiations with Contract Manufacturing partners on non-strategic parts.
  • Develop and maintain component category entitlements/budgets. Create and lead cross functional team
    meetings to track progress to entitlement goals.
  • Regularly reports to Leadership Team on current product cost status and Product cost projections
  • Review and provide guidance to Category Management team on accuracy of itemized quotes. Highlight
    any areas where inconsistencies are found.
  • Works with ambiguity and uncertainty with Cross Functional team to guide product impacting decisions.
  • Operates within Zebra Product Lifecycle Management tool (PLM) to track down necessary data to
    support ones work: Part Number and structured BOM searches, Engineering Change details, Part
    specification and design details.
  • Performs BOM cost analytics to identify areas of cost opportunity, risk, or are of interest.
  • Continuously looks for ways to improve internal processes and tasks to improve productivity.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a preference for Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 5+ years of Strategic Sourcing (such as Procurement, Demand Planning, Materials Mgmt) experience in Direct Categories (direct material, Hardware, etc.) or in Engineering (design,
  • manufacturing, or process).
  • Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced skills), Microsoft PowerPoint (intermediate to advanced skill), intermediate skill with RFQ tools, experience with PLM tools
  • Excellent professional communications (verbal and written) with suppliers, stakeholders, and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Engineering concepts and programs
  • Ability to problem solve with limited data and ambiguity
  • Proven negotiations results from Strategic Sourcing processes
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a desire to learn and ability to work independently in a fast paced, changing environment
  • History of performing to measurable results in a timeline constrained environment.
  • Can present data in a visually compelling format to help business stakeholders understand the issues, possibilities, and recommendations
  • Self-disciplined and the ability to Self-motivate and work successfully with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Resourcefulness gathering specific supply market research and intelligence that support making strategic sourcing business decisions
  • Understanding of Clean Sheet models with some experience using them.
