Overview

We are looking for a Scrum Master who is very customer focused and has a passion for driving the end-to-end development of tools and solutions that exceed expectations.  A SM that can drive strategic initiatives as well as product development in realizing our company’s vision.  As a SM, you are responsible for leading a cross-functional team of SW Engineers, Test Engineers, Operations, etc. from initial concept to deployment. At the same time, you are challenged to meet program goals for product performance, quality goals, regulatory compliance requirements, cost, schedule, and development budget. You are also responsible for working with Product Owners, Marketing, and Experience Designers to define the product, solidify the business case, and author the product and experience specifications.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. BS/MS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree with 5-10 years Engineering/Program management experience for products in fast paced environment.
  2. Experience with Data Platform Software Development.
  3. Experience in playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  4. Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  5. Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
  6. Self-motivated, results driven, risks cognizant
  7. Skilled in critical thinking and questioning approaches
  8. Excellent communication (written and oral) skills and collaborate effectively with proven interpersonal skills
  9. Experience with team building, collaboration, and managing resources - both domestically and international.
  10. Firm comprehension of data services and landscape
  11. Experience with software development best practices including Agile Xtreme Programming, TDD and Continuous Integration.

 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Team leadership for Agile cross functional product development teams. Contribute and promote the development of agile skillset and capabilities within the wider Zebra EVM organization.
  2. Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers.
  3. Guiding the team on how to get the most of out self-organization.
  4. Guiding the team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  5. Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
  6. Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
  7. Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
  8. Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
  9. Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  10. Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  11. Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  12. Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example.
  13. Define strategic initiatives to align the business to Agile product development. Work closely with Portfolio Management to ensure strategic goals align and are represented in the innovation feature roadmap.  Track initiatives through the various stages of Portfolio evaluation in a manner that supports the Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) framework (e.g. program manage through vision and proof of concept phases as working examples).
  14. Technical excellence across multiple engineering disciplines. Leading team development in an Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) framework that promotes and embraces innovation across all initiative types (e.g. from incremental to strategic).  Work closely with execution teams (e.g. Agile Release Trains) to ensure practices established in the ALM are consistently followed.
  15. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  16. Organize, present, and document technical and program reviews/status to Senior Management.
  17. Ensure products meet worldwide regulatory compliance requirements.
  18. Validate the developing products are reliably and of quality.
  19. Develop and protect intellectual property; be well versed with IP fundamentals.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.
