The Role:

The Sales Engineer Organization provides Pre-Sale technical support to the sales team and end user customers, primarily engaged in all facets of Pre sales technical engagements, ranging from demonstrations, proof of concepts, lab and pilot test implementations, Request for proposal (RFP) responses & Pre-Implementation troubleshooting.

 

A Sales Engineer is an entry level position that will assist in defining technical requirements and recommending appropriate technical solutions that support the achievement of Zebra Technologies sales goals. Candidate will be encouraged to have a knowledge of industry standard technologies, vertical markets and/or Zebra products (mobile computing, software development, security, wired/wireless networking, printing platforms and software) Candidate will develop relationships with sales team, internal engineering, and key technical customer contacts in order to use these resources to Zebra’s advantage. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in development and execution of technology strategy for assigned accounts or territory. Some travel will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Sales Engineer(s) on pre-sale support on a variety of Zebra products to large Enterprise customers. Opportunity to work with and assist a team including Sales, System Integrators, Product Engineers, Program Managers and Senior Sales Engineers to implement Zebra solutions.
  • Lead technical pre-sale activities on less complex solutions.
  • Measured on assisting in achieving team sales goal.
  • Attend technical, product and sales training as required
  • Learn relevant solution sets, architectures and full product line specifications.
  • Develop an understanding of relevant competitive solutions, products and services.
  • Participate in the coordination of technical sales activities related to perspective accounts, partners and/or territory.
  • Transfer industry, technical, and product knowledge to customers and partners
  • Set-up and operate equipment for customer demonstrations and evaluations.
  • Participate in technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects.

Technical/Business Knowledge:

  • Uses basic knowledge of customers business to position Zebra solutions effectively versus competition
  • Knowledge of software and/or hardware, testing and implementation.
  • Understands and can solve problems of basic complexity (e.g. verifying technical compatibility) at the customer\partner level
  • Basic understanding of LAN Protocols, Advanced Data Capture, Mobile Computing, Wide Area Networking (WAN) and RF theory, Security, Printing Solutions and software, Planning, and Implementation.
  • Preliminary knowledge of Operations Support Systems (OSS) systems (problem reporting, provisioning, testing, and service activation systems/platforms).
  • Ability to install applications on Android OS, Windows CE and Windows Mobile, and iOS operating systems and effectively diagnose systems (and above) level issues.
  • Minimum of one industry or product certifications will be achieved in the first year.

Qualifications

Skills Required:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, good listening and presentation skills. (Both in Japanese and in English)
  • Ability to work effectively and add value as a team member.
  • Demonstrate basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable with coordination across various groups and functional teams.
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to perform task under moderate supervision
  • Ability to apply solutions, technology and products to a business opportunity.

Education/Experience:

  • A bachelor degree from an accredited institution and minimum 2-3 years of work experience or a two years technical degree with some years of experience; or strong experience in working a technical role in sales, customer relations, call center or other technical role which required regular collaboration with external customers.
  • Certifications: Industry certification (e.g. MCSE, MCNE, CWNA, CCNA/CCDP, MCSE/NE, CISSP etc) and Software development OS: (e.g. Android OS, Microsoft Windows, Apple iOS, Web applications including HTML 5) desirable and/or strongly preferred
  • Zebra Technologies product portfolio experience and/or relevant experience in key competitor offerings in technology area of emphasis are preferred.
