Overview

The NPI Engineering and Supply Chain Operations department works closely with the Zebra Supply Chain teams and its suppliers to successfully integrate new products into the EMS/JDM factories. The team works closely with the product development engineers to improve DFx (Design for Assembly/Manufacturing) and insure high quality and high yield production in the factory.

Develops and implements process improvements to existing products to support cost reduction goals and Lean Six Sigma implementation as well.

PCBA Manufacturing Related

  • Candidate will be self-motivated and have the ability to access and plan his/her schedule according to business priorities
  • Candidate will be the SMT/PCBA manufacturing expert in Asia region and he/she will be the interface between Zebra design centers in North America and Asia manufacturing sites when the technical issues and communications happen.
  • Candidate will support and lead any production/reliability failures related to PCBA soldering issues for mass production and NPI builds.
  • Candidate has the responsibility to coach and guide the Zebra internal manufacturing team and Zebra suppliers manufacturing team to improve the SMT/PCBA manufacturing skills and knowledge.
  • Candidate will need to help develop the standard procedure of SMT/PCBA manufacturing process setup, controls…and document it, implement at our suppliers’ sites.
  • Candidate will participate in PCBA design reviews and prototype builds to assess and provide DFx input, track actions, and escalate issues as necessary

General NPI Manufacturing Related

  • Review the readiness of NPI manufacturing including documentations, fixtures, equipment and manpower. Recommends corrective actions and implements changes when issue happens. Identifies and mitigates risks, develops and implements risk mitigation plans
  • Leader of Lean Six Sigma and Smart Factory implementation at our JDM/EMS supplier side during NPI stage
  • Establishes requirements for highly complex manufacturing projects and may lead a team responsible for establishing requirements. Insure correct features are incorporated first in the projects. Insures correct features are incorporated first in the projects
  • Architects and designs highly complex manufacturing projects. Completes all phases of the projects. Follows through on all in-process and final inspection activities
  • Develops and applies technical and quality improvements
  • Creates new programs, technologies and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Insures new ideas and methodologies are documented for use by teams
  • Uses status as a knowledge leader in manufacturing and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and program management to provide technical leadership to a given program
  • Defines requirements for and may design complex new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of complex problems
  • Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines
  • Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • May coordinate the activities of other personnel
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs project leadership

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in an Engineering Discipline or relevant technology, from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • minimum of 10 years of general work experience with a minimum of 8 years of experience in SMT/PCBA Manufacturing Process Engineering
  • Familiar with SMT solder printing stencil design and fabrication.
  • Familiar with SMT equipment/tools, including solder printer, AOI, placement machine and reflow oven.
  • Familiar with wave soldering process and equipment/tool/chemicals.
  • Familiar with PCBA failure analysis methodologies for both SMT and wave soldering failures.
  • Familiar with failure analysis lab usage including equipment, tools and chemicals.
  • Familiar with PCB, SMT raw material surface treatment processes and the influences to the soldering process.
  • Familiar with IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, IPC-TM-650, IPC-7711/7721
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing and six sigma green belt certification is preferred.
  • Strong in Mandarin and English.
