    This individual will be responsible for contributing to the detailed design & validation and 3rd party certification of the electrical and RF subsystem design within portable hand-held wireless mobile computers and their associated accessories for mission critical Enterprise applications.


    Specific duties will include:

    • Collaborate with US- and Taiwan-based product development teams to implement products that meet product requirements for Enterprise-Class Mobile Computing devices.
    • Provide expert oversight & direction of all relevant activities carried-out on behalf of Zebra at 3rd-party design partners’ sites
    • Provide technical management for third-party design, simulation, and test of electrical, RF, and antenna subsystems of the mobile device as part of a complete system.
    • Provide support for RF design schematic capture, including PCB layout.
    • Provide support for RF simulation (Circuit/system), EM-Simulation (Antenna +PCBA), radio subsystem integration, including antenna development through designated 3rd-parties.
    • Resolve and provide expert leadership to others in resolving system RF test issues, including Desense, Manufacturing yield, Radio performance, Regulatory Approvals, Carrier Certifications, EMI/EMC, & optimization, etc.
    • Work closely with the EE/ME/SW team members to ensure the target products meet all relevant FCC, ETSI, PTCRB/GCF, CTIA requirements including any worldwide Network Carrier/incountry regulations in a robust fashion
    • Support the RF certification and compliance testing of radio/system reference platform designs through both in-house screening and formal testing at a 3rd-party certified test lab
    • Continuously work to improve the development process, concentrating on time to market, quality, and cost Specific Knowledge/Skills

    • Architects and designs highly complex RF design projects. Completes all phases of the projects. Follows through on all in-process and final inspection activities.
    • Creates new programs, technologies and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Insures new ideas and methodologies are documented for use by the team.
    • Uses status as a knowledge leader in RF design and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and program management to provide technical leadership to a given program.
    • Defines requirements for and may design complex new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of complex problems.
    • Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines.
    • Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
    • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs project leadership


    • Proficiency in validating & optimizing radio performance using common RF measurement tools this includes characterization of both conducted and OTA mode performance such as RX sensitivity, spurious/harmonic emissions, TX power and operational RF range performance, etc.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify innovative ways to isolate the radio subsystems and their associated antennas from internal digital system noise in the target embodiment design resulting in an overall improvement & optimization of the radio RF/subsystem performance
    • Experience in leading & executing design activities
    • Demonstrated ability to lead the development of RF/system designs from concept through high-volume production is required
    • Experience in a leadership role within a cross-functional product team is required
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
    • Ability to work independently with motivation and self-direction.
    • Recent engineering development experience in 4G WWAN and WLAN (802.11b/g/a/n) is required practical experience in the following technology areas targeting handheld device applications are highly desirable: LTE WWAN, WPAN (Bluetooth), NFC, and/or GPS
    • In-depth, practical hands-on experience with the design, development & debugging of discrete RF circuit designs and embedded radio subsystems spanning 10 MHz through 6 GHz is required
    • Demonstrated ability to specify, design and verify PCB features such as, RF circuit layout and associated PCB planes, RF shielding, controlled-impedance microstrip/stripline traces and matching circuits is required
    • Proficiency in generating/enhancing design documentation (i.e., design specifications, schematics, BOMs, test procedures, etc.) using leading industry software tools is required
    • Demonstrated experience with common RF measurement systems like Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, RF power meters, etc. is required.
    • Practical experience with RF characterization of wireless systems using specialized radiated measurement system equipment such as an RF anechoic chamber or SATIMO/ETS chamber is highly desirable
    • Practical experience in the troubleshooting to root cause, RF performance/compliance issues .
    • In-depth understanding of wireless communication theory and signal processing techniques is required
    • BSEE with 6+ years applicable experience (MSEE preferred).
    • Experience of 3+ years with integration of RF radio chipsets and antennas into mobile/portable computing devices.
