  • Overview

    Release Management (RM) is primarily concerned with the flow of changes through pre-production environments culminating in successfully deployment into the production environment in the least disruptive manner.
    As a Release Manager, you will be primarily responsible with planning and coordinating resources, to deploy a release(s) in a timely and effective manner.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the overall management of the release process, includes planning for the release, ensuring user acceptance tests completion, verifying training provided to the user community where needed, validating the blackout plan, staging the pilot test, implementing the full deployment of the release, and closing the release in a timely manner.
    • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and that they meet or exceed expectations
    • Signs off the release package for implementation
    • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the release
    • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
    • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
    • Uses established tools and templates to document the plan and communicates it to the team. Gathers feedback from the team and to revise and complete the Project Plan as needed
    • Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
    • Provides management reports on release progress
    • Identify process breakdowns across the release workflows and implement solutions that improve effectiveness and continuously improve processes.
    • At times, may require weekend work to oversee a deployment

    Qualifications

    • Preferred Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree
    • Preferred Work Experience (years):
      • 1-3 years
    • Key Skills and Competencies:
      • Beginner to intermediate communication and facilitation skills.
      • Beginner to intermediate presentation skills. Demonstrated comfort in presenting to direct supervisor / manager or within own work team.
      • Ability to run multiple releases at any given time
      • Lead by Example and Be customer-centric
      • Demonstrated familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and methodologies. Prince 2 Foundation certification would be a plus
      • Intermediate skills in PC based documentation tools including MS Office, Sharepoint and SharePoint
      • Intermediate skills in delegation and follow up
      • Keen ability to balance the immediate needs of the project with the longer-term goals of the greater organisation.
