Zebra’ Barcode Scanning software in its devices enables us to provide fast, reliable, Industry leading barcode scanning to our enterprise customers. The role of a Zebra Barcode Scanning Engineer is to design, develop and debug enhancements in the Barcode Scanning stack (driver and framework) on Android devices. This involves programming in C/C++/Java in a resource-constrained multi-processor environment.


    1. Design, develop and debug enhancements in the Barcode Scanning software stack on Android devices.
    2. Be a member of an Agile cross-functional scrum team, participate in Sprint planning, review and retrospective.
    3. Provide estimates and deliver high quality code within agreed timelines.
    4. Conduct peer software reviews
    5. Perform unit and regression tests before integrating code onto the mainline.
    6. Create relevant documents following the processes.


  • Minimum qualifications


    • Excellent C, C++ and Java programming skills with proven experience in writing efficient code for low powered and memory constrained devices.
    • Proficiency in Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns
    • Experience in using C++ templates and Standard template library
    • Experience in Android Framework Development
    • Exposure in Linux Device Driver Development and
    • Excellent problem solving ability with experience in diagnosing complex system issues including strong debugging skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a good team player.
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar.
    • 2 to 6 years embedded software design/development experience

    Preferred qualifications

    • Experience in Android Framework and Android Native programming – IPC, Memory Management.
    • Experience of working on Imaging subsystems (CSI2 Controller and Imaging pipeline) on Qualcomm/TI/Intel (Baytrail) SOCs
    • Experience of working on Linux v4L2 framework on Qualcomm/TI/Intel (Baytrail) SOCs
    • Experience of working on Barcode Scanning Solutions
    • Proficiency in reading Hardware Schematics, in using Debug tools like JTAG, Oscilloscopes
    • Knowledge of MIPI CSI2, i2c, UART interfaces
    • Knowledge of Android Camera Framework and Camera HAL
    • Knowledge of Image Processing / Machine vision
